Engineer Product Development Engineer

Kuros Biosciences B.V. (subsidiary of Kuros Biosciences AG, a SIX-Swiss listed company) is a Dutch life science company that develops novel biomaterials for bone repair. Kuros bone repair products have been introduced in the US and EU markets and production activities are being up-scaled to meet market demand. The small, dynamic Kuros team is committed to offering high quality products and services and is therefore looking for a new team member that fits this spirit.

 

The candidate will be a member of the Development Team, a multicultural and multidisciplinary team at the cross point between the R&D, Production, Marketing, and QA/RA.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities:

In a small but dedicated team you are responsible for:

  • Preparation of R&D, and clinical grade, biomaterials (ceramics, polymers)
  • Analysis of biomaterials (synthesis, characterisation, in vivo performance)
  • Development and improvement of processes and methods meeting class III medical device requirements
  • Preparation of protocols, including testing and sampling plans and reports
  • Complying to project timelines, company’s quality system, and regulatory requirements
  • Coordination of external testing (e.g.  packaging, microbial testing, biocompatibility)
  • Dedicated laboratory areas and equipment

 

You will also participate in Marketing, Production and QA/RA teams to reach company goals, with activities relating to:

  • Experiments, novel and patentable technologies addressing market needs
  • Input for all product life cycle stages (e.g. shelf-life, risk management, changes)
  • Process up-scaling from R&D to validations in clean room compliant with GMP requirements

 

Skills and abilities desired:

  • HBO or equivalent in biomaterials, chemistry, or material science
  • Research experience including material preparation and characterisation, and statistical analyses
  • General lab skills, knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures
  • Result-driven, flexible and creative in finding solutions
  • Must be able to work well independently, as well as being able to work cooperatively in a team
  • Good English skills (written and spoken)
  • Accurate, pro-active and analytical
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
